Most people, unfortunately, don’t spend a lot of time honing their skills in the kitchen during their twenties. We think it’s a damn shame, so we’ve compiled a quick list of straightforward and appetizing recipes every person should master before they turn 30.
#1: Grilled Cheese
You can probably toast some bread and throw a couple slices of cheese on it, hoping they will melt a little bit, but that’s not really a grilled cheese sandwich. If you want that crunchy golden crust with an amazingly melty-cheesy core, then you need to learn how to make the best grilled cheese sandwich like this.
#2: Steak
If you can’t perfectly pan-sear a steak like Gordon Ramsay by the time you’re 30 years old, you better be vegetarian or vegan! Learn from the best in the video above.
#3: Roasted Vegetables
These will go perfectly with your steak! The trick is to cut the vegetables that take longer to cook (i.e. carrots or potatoes) into smaller pieces, so the vegetables are all done at the same time. With some practice, you’ll figure it out! Grab a basic recipe for them here.
#4: Brownies
Unless you’re some kind of savage caveman, you want a delicious dessert after your perfect steak dinner. Chocolaty and scrumptious brownies baked to perfection will surely do the trick! Need a recipe? Of course we have you covered. Check this one out!
#5: Chicken Thighs
These are pan-roasted before you toss them in the oven for 13mins to finish. They are so cheap and quick, they will easily turn into a go-to recipe for any day of the week. Much more enjoyable than chicken breasts, which tend to dry out far too rapidly and have a lot less flavor. Reading this paragraph is probably taking longer than roasting up these delectable chicken thighs. Grab the recipe here.
#6: Mac & Cheese
Another vegetarian option and a great side for the chicken thighs (or steak for that matter). You can go pretty crazy with the cheese varieties (and add things like bacon), but make sure you don’t overcook the pasta when you’re boiling it!
#7: Guacamole
Holy guacamole! Make sure you pick up some extremely ripe avocados for this and it’ll be a delicious dip (or upgrade to a taco dinner). The recipe is here.
#8: Simple Homemade Tomato Sauce
Boil some pasta with this and you have a decent dish, especially if you sprinkle some grated parmesan on top. Get the recipe here.
#9: Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ideally, chocolate chip cookies should be soft and gooey. Warm, with the chocolate slightly melted. Lawd! Get the recipe here and start baking!
#10: Pulled Pork
You don’t even need a smoker for this recipe (just a crock pot), so there is no excuse! One pulled pork sandwich, please! Oh, the recipe? It’s here.
