College students often have to take jobs working in fast food restaurants to help pay for school, but sometimes they will gain more than a paycheck out of the experience. While she attended medical school to become a doctor, Nabiha Islam worked at a Dairy Queen in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It was here that she met one of the kindest people ever in her boss, Yvonne Lavasidis.
When Islam became a doctor, she didn’t forget how supportive her boss at DQ had been to her and decided to write her the following thank you note. It’s truly heartwarming.
Needless to say, Lavasidis (pictured above) was emotionally moved by the heartfelt thank you note she received from a former employee. She said, “Obviously I was so very touched. I was in tears when I read the note for the first time, and every time I read it, it still brings tears to my eyes. I remember her as a very intelligent and hardworking individual. She was wonderful with our customers and a joy to work with… [and] her success is very well-deserved.”
The encouragement and amount of leeway given to Nabiha Islam, while working for an understanding boss like Yvonne Lavasidis, may have been a deciding factor in how she was able to finish medical school and finally become a doctor. A dream come true!
So much love! How uplifting. Always remember that success only requires a decent opportunity and hard work from a determined individual. If you can provide such a situation for another person, always do it. They will pay it forward and be forever thankful.
