Back in 2011, Robert Foster weighed in at a grotesque 327lbs and his wife rustled the scale’s Jimmies with her 287lbs. The weight had piled on over the years and as they got fatter, the overeating just got worse. Health problems due to their obesity became a problem, they both had low self-esteem and were unable to enjoy playing with their children.
Jessica said, “I adore my kids and I love my husband very much, but there was that point I hated myself so much. I wasn’t giving them the full me because I was disgusted. You have to look in the mirror and say, ‘Am I going to allow this to continue or am I going to stand up and make those changes?’ A light turned on upstairs.”
In 2012, the couple decided they’ve had enough and wanted to make a change. As a loving couple looking to make a difficult but worthwile lifestyle change for themselves and their family as a whole, they used each other for motivation and it worked like a charm!
Jessica led by example. Shortly after turning 30 years old in 2012, she signed up for Zumba classes at a gym and managed to shed 14lbs in just a few weeks! By 2014 (today), she has managed to drop a staggering 120lbs and weighs in at an amazing 167lbs! She said, “I love myself. I like what I’m seeing in the mirror. I know there’s some work to still be done, but I’m such a different person than I was before.” Jessica dropped from a dress of 24 to a size 10!
Robert was hesitant about exercising at first, but decided he should start doing SOMETHING about his weight as he was seeing his wife get after it like a boss. Gradually, he changed his eating habits and began to play tennis. This quickly snowballed into a more active lifestyle that included swimming, hiking and running around with his children like a boss dad.
With a healthy lifestyle established, they began to start running and training for a 5k in 2012. Running became Robert’s passion and as of today, he has completed two 5k races, a 10k, and even a full marathon! Thanks to this and a healthy diet, Robert managed to lose an incredible 160lbs! He now also weighs in at 167lbs.
If you’re unhappy about something in your life, be it your weight or otherwise, change it like a boss! The goal is to be content and comfortable with who you are. When you love yourself, your capacity to love others and spread that emotion becomes much greater!
