Residents of Ft. Worth and the Surrounding Areas have always been subjected to having to drive to Dallas for Big Events. In Part, Due to the Area, there aren’t a lot of venues in the area for bigger acts to stop at. The Area is ripe and ready for something huge and on April 29-30th, We’re Finally Going to get it.
The Low-Down
Margin Walker (Sound on Sound Fest) Has Curated Fortress Festival, A 2-Day Experience in the Cultural District Of Ft. Worth. Using the Spectacular Space of the Modern and the Vast area of Will Rodgers. Bringing in Talent from all over the country while also utilizing Local Talent, but this festival isn’t just about the music. Local business’ and Art Vendors are taking full advantage of the opportunity. Right across the street from the Modern, one of Ft. Worth’s FINEST Mexican restaurants, Salsa Limon will be set-up, as well as Elixer Coffee, Juiceland, Rightous Foods & Emoji’s Grilled Cheese Bar. The food will be set-up on Lancaster ave, which will be closed off to support the Foot Traffic between the Stages.
This Line-up is Stuffed to the brim with goodness. Two Nights of music that differ in style but harmonize in such a way that attending only one night would be detrimental to anyone. Saturday is showcasing Hip-Hop while Sunday keeps it electronic in nature, but each night branches out to include something for everyone. Saturday, Bobby Sessions, A Dallas Native takes the stage at 4:15, Followed by Blue, The Misfit at 5:30, Another DFW Legend and apart of the Top dawg ent. Roster. Indie Rockers Houndmouth follow up what is sure to be an amazing time in the early evening that leads into the mystical Flying Lotus and Closing the Night is the Insanely huge Run the Jewels, Fresh off their Christmas present to the world RTJ3 (Released as a Surprise on Christmas Day) If their performance is anything close to their appearances at Sound on Sound or Day for Night, They’re going to Deliver a Show that will no doubt leave the Surrounding Areas of 7th Street in Shambles with no hope of recovery. But that’s only ONE stage, Did we mention there’s another stage? Sponsored by the amazing team at KXT 91.7, this stage is going to be on the Pond at the Modern, something that EVERYONE is talking about, Headlined on Saturday by the Lords of Moog Synthesizers SURVIVE. Sure to be a Dope time. But let’s not forget Sam Lao, playing earlier in the Afternoon at the KXT stage, ANOTHER Dfw Rapper who’s going to bring sweet sounds to the Modern. Margin Walker cares So much about this area to have so many local acts accompany artists who’re raising the bar in every way. And we only scraped the surface. Sunday, We have Purity Ring Closing out the Festival on the Main Stage, They’re killer live, playing electronics on, what looks like, Giant Polygons that light up with each beat. Before them is a Set of Beautiful Shoe-gazing by Slowdive, who HAVEN’T but out a new Album in close to 2 Decades but are releasing the long-anticipated Release Next Friday. Before them is a real Hoot-And-Holler set by Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, This day is going to be so groovy. On the KXT stage Peter Hook & The Light, Previously of Joy Division, are going to Kill it again with what’s sure to be another night of incredible sounds and visuals.
The Area is so cool, So Spread out. There is going to be Yoga, Food Vendors and a Lyft Station for Easy, Reliable and SAFE rides home. Lyft is even offering up 20$ Credit for your first ride, There is nothing better than a company looking out for the well-being of the community.
