In 1996, at just 20 years old, the then art student Mariam Paré was tragically shot in the spine and paralyzed instantly. Her artistic career seemed to be done, but Paré is not the type to give up. As soon as she could, she began trying to write using a pen in her mouth.
Once she had mastered that, she decided to move on to holding a paintbrush. Eventually, she would create the magnificently artistic masterpieces you can see a few of below the interview video. Her paintings are incredibly beautiful, especially when you consider her story and how she has managed to persevere.
My personal favorite is the James Bond painting she painted using a paintbrush held between her teeth. However, the way this woman has not allowed a thing as devastating as paralysis to rule her life and still remains an artist through all that is the most uplifting thing of all!
