Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews is a boss. The famous trombone and trumpet player knows the value an instrument can bring to a kid’s life, himself having started to play the trombone at age six!

When Trombone Shorty found out that a 14-year-old trombone player lost his instrument during a mugging, while walking home from band practice, he decided to replace the teen’s trombone less than 24 hours after the incident like a boss!
The teen was walking home with his trombone, when a car drove up beside him and an armed man hopped out demanding the kid’s instrument. Refusing to surrender his instrument to the criminal, the 14yo took off running as three shots were fired in his direction. In the process, he dropped his trombone.

Troy Andrews, a.k.a. Trombone Shorty, said, “I’m replacing his horn because I want to make sure that he has what he needs to continue his education in music without missing a beat. He is the future of our music. My thoughts and prayers are with the young musician and his family.”
Now he’ll have a brand new trombone, which will hopefully speed up his emotional healing process from the devastating incident. The teen will remain anonymous for his safety, but he’s definitely a boss!
His mom said, “He just loves Trombone Shorty. He’s always saying he wants to be just like him.”
