If you’ve ever been camping, you know things should be practical and efficient. The following 10 items are so freaking genius, you’ll wonder why you never thought of them yourself! Without further ado, here are our ten favorite DIY life hacks for camping.
1. Tent Air Conditioner
If you’ve ever gone camping during a really hot summer, you know there comes a point when you get pretty sick of the heat and constant sweating associated with it, especially if there isn’t a body of water nearby to hop into.
What follows is a very easy way to cool down your tent. All you need is a foam cooler, some ice (preferably in ziploc bags, so you can use the water for something else), a piece of PVC pipe (or a dryer vent), some duct tape and a small fan.

How to make it: Cut holes into the foam cooler to tightly fit whatever fan you have to blow warm air into it and the pipe where cool air will come out of. Use duct tape to seal any gaps. Throw in some ice and enjoy the cool breeze.

2. Avoid Ticks

To avoid these nasty bloodsuckers, put one part tea tree oil and two parts water into a spray bottle. Spray your shoes, socks and the bottom of your pants.
3. Campfire Crescent Rolls

They’re easy to transport and the dough is just the right thickness to bake perfectly over a campfire after the flame dies down a bit. Add some chocolate or Nutella to the mix and you’re golden for an after-dinner camping snack.
4. Tic Tac Storage

Tic Tac boxes are perfect for storing small items you’ll need when you go camping, i.e. nails or spices!
5. Single Use Soap

Using a vegetable peeler and a bar of soap, slice off individual pieces. They’ll be just big enough for one shower. You can also rub soap on mosquito bites to relieve that itch!
6. Altoid Tin First Aid Kit

Repurpose an altoid tin to store a small first aid kit! Alternatively you can use an old prescription pill bottle (or any other small container).
7. Egg Carton Fire Starter

Throw some match light charcoal into an empty egg carton and you have an easy way to start a fire, whether you need it for a grill or a campfire doesn’t really matter. Just set the carton on fire and the flame will transfer to the charcoal briquettes.
8. Frozen Gallon Jugs in Cooler

They will keep everything cold, so you won’t need to use ice. Once the ice inside them has melted, you can drink the water!
9. Upside Down or Self Feeding Campfire

This is how you build a fire that will feed itself all night like a boss. It will burn from top to bottom, if you build it correctly.
Instructions:
– Largest wood at the bottom and smallest on top of the initial platform.
– Place your tinder bundle on top of that platform.
– Build a tipi or pyramid structure above the tinder with small sticks.
– Light the fire! Burn baby burn!
10. Open Can Without Can Opener

This is a pretty cool trick, if you forget to bring a can opener or lose yours. All you need is some concrete.
