Truck driver David Fredericksen was driving down I-10 in Biloxi, Mississippi, when he witnessed a Lincoln Town Car t-bone a truck and catch on fire due to a puncture in the truck’s fuel tank. What followed was a massive fireball that caused Fredericksen to go into full boss mode.
He grabbed his fire extinguisher and ran to the car. Inside, a grandmother was trapped with her one-year-old granddaughter. Because the grandma had broken her leg, she was unable to get out of the car. David Fredericksen was then able to tame the flames using his fire extinguisher, just long enough to get both the grandmother and her granddaughter out of the vehicle!
Everyone else assumed the passengers were dead and Fredericksen thought the same, but he decided to give it a shot anyhow instead of watching two people burn alive. The dashcam of his truck captured the whole scene as it developed and the grandmother’s car burst into flames just moments after she and her 1yo granddaughter were pulled out of it by the hero. Everyone involved made it out of the situation alive thanks to a heroic effort by Fredericksen.
This goes to show that you shouldn’t always let your assumptions allow you to make rash decisions. This guy didn’t and he saved two lives as a result. He doesn’t even consider himself a hero though. What a boss! We need more people like you in this world, David Fredericksen.
