Boy Wins Girls Pole Vault at Maine Championship, Lawmakers Call for Investigation

“Boy wins girls pole vault” at Maine’s Class B state championship, causing controversy. A transgender-identifying boy secured first place in the women’s pole vault event, just days after the state refused to follow President Trump’s executive order banning males from competing in female sports at public schools.

As a result of this win, Greely High School’s girls’ track and field team secured the championship by just one point. Notably, the same student had competed under a different name as a boy only a few years ago. Now, after adopting a girl’s name, this situation has sparked outrage. In fact, a local lawmaker is calling for an investigation.

Maine state legislator Lauren Libby raised concerns on Monday. Specifically, she wrote on Facebook: “Two years ago, [boy’s name] tied for 5th place in boys’ pole vault. Tonight, ‘[girl’s name]’ won 1st place in the girls’ Maine State Class B Championship.”

Furthermore, Libby told The Daily Wire that the Trump administration should act to protect female athletes. According to her, Trump’s executive order allows investigations into schools that fail to comply with gender regulations. Consequently, noncompliant schools could lose funding.

“The Maine Principals’ Association’s decision to let male athletes compete against females is outrageous,” Libby said. “Not only does it violate President Trump’s order, but it also compromises the safety and privacy of female athletes. Meanwhile, male athletes are taking medals and podium spots away from women, effectively erasing them from competition.”

For this reason, she urged the Trump Administration to intervene. “I urge the Trump Administration to act quickly to restore fairness for female athletes in Maine and preserve the integrity of women’s sports,” she added.

The athlete, who identifies as transgender, secured a one-point victory for the school in the overall state championship as the boy wins girls pole vault championship.

Earlier this year, Maine’s Department of Education announced it would not comply with Trump’s directive. In addition, the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) reaffirmed its stance that males would continue competing in girls’ and women’s sports. As a result, the state is openly defying the executive order.

Maine Wire also reported on the state’s decision to ignore Trump’s order. The article included concerns from coach Allen Cornwall, who questioned the fairness of allowing a male pole vaulter on Greely High School’s girls’ team.

“They’ll be the conference champion—quote-unquote girls’ conference champion,” Cornwall said. “They’ll be the ‘girls’ state champion’ for Class B. Meanwhile, the girls who have worked for years toward this goal are being sidelined. Understandably, it’s really frustrating.” It’s sad when a boy wins a girls pole vault championship. But hey, at least the girls didn’t get beat up by a blackbelt tae kwondo transgender who is 6’3 280lbs.

Moreover, Cornwall explained that the student had previously competed in the boys’ pole vault for two years. Back then, he achieved a moderate height of around 12 feet, which is typical for male athletes. However, after transitioning and competing against females, he now dominates the event. In fact, he ranks among the top ten girls in pole vaulting.
