Yesterday, we gave you a rundown of the FIFA World Cup final match between Germany and Argentina. After a hard-fought battle on the field, the German squad emerged victorious and hoisted the trophy every elite soccer player wishes to one day hold. Below are some cool pictures of the event.
Mario Götze from Bayern Munich (previously Borussia Dortmund) came in as a substitute and scored the game winner in a tough 1-0 victory that went into extra time.

It looks like his girlfriend was pretty happy with his accomplishment.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Bastian Schweinsteiger got the crap beat out of him the whole game, so victory must have tasted the sweetest for him. At one point, he had to get staples in his face after an elbow to the cheek, before returning to the game like a boss.

He still consoled Messi after the game though.

Germany’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer won the Golden Glove for being the best goalie in the tournament. Lionel Messi won the Golden Ball as the most outstanding player of the 2014 World Cup, but he didn’t seem to care after the loss.

And there was a streaker during the game. It was YouTube prankster VitalyZDTV, who somehow managed to get past security. He ran around the field like a mad man, before security guards wrestled him to the ground, choked him a little bit and carried him off the pitch.

The German team partied like rock stars after getting their medals and the prestigious World Cup!

The German fans celebrated as well.

Argentina’s team was devastated.

And so were their fans.

There were a few photographers at the game too…

And the iconic Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor in Portuguese) in Rio de Janeiro also added something to the event when it hold the sunset like a boss and was later illuminated with the colors of the German flag!

Congratulations to the winners and better luck next time to Lionel Messi and Argentina!
Did you know the last time Germany won the World Cup in 1990, they also beat Argentina 1-0?
